Brenda’s Path to Emei Qigong: What's Yours?

One day in 2011, flipping through the Health Beginnings magazine, I came across an article called Discovering Emei Qigong. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Qigong is not a new term to me, but not knowing what it really is, I associated it with what I took in from movies and tales. What is qigong doing in this Reno magazine? I read and found that this was a story of a flight attendant who almost had to claim disability had she not discovered Emei Qigong. On the opposite page of this article, there was an ad about a Level I Seminar: Healing Arts of Emei Qigong. I decided to attend this seminar and asked my friend, Felix, from Las Vegas to join me. This turned out to be a turning point of my life.
The fascinating information in Level I prompted us to continue the same year with the Level II Seminar: Changing the Moving Program of Life. The Level II information was very amazing as well, but I did not take much advantage of it --- too busy was my excuse. At the urge of Felix, we attended in 2012 the Level III Seminar: Eastern Psychology: The Chan and Yi Jing Heart Energy Distinctive Healing Method. This time, I connected. The concept of Level III is very simple: Negative emotions from your encounter of people, things, and events that lingered with you will cause physical ailment. The problem and its location depend on the kind of emotion involved. If you can let go that emotion and the mindset that generated it, you can regain your physical balance. I thought I did not have any such lingering emotions. WRONG! Through an exercise in the seminar, I discovered that I carried a lot of guilt leaving my family to come to the United States. I just have been too busy to even know about that feeling.

Since then, Felix and I started practicing the healing techniques we learned. Felix got rid of his fatty liver in only three months after practising the Transferring and Clearing technique for about 15 minutes a day. I am less disciplined, but I like Wuji Gong for the calming effect. My “busy” mind had never allowed me to complete a sitting meditation before; the moving meditation in Wuji Gong somehow calms my mind enough that I could finally feel what meditation is like. The Nevada sun used to give me big red itchy blistering bumps even after just a short exposure. My doctor told me just not to go out in the sun. That is not an option being a Civil Engineer that works on road construction and I had to wrap myself up like a mummy when I go out to the job site. One summer day in 2013, a colleague noticed that I was not wrapped up and asked why. I didn’t know why … I just didn’t feel the need … and the sun didn’t seem to be so harmful anymore. My only explanation for it is qigong because I did not make any other life style changes. This prompted a self-reflection and I realized that I am more tranquil and am overall a happier person. I also feel I am more aware of the people and things around me and of my own feelings !!!
The healing effect Emei Qigong brings me a totally different perspective of the powerful discipline of qigong, I know that it is not just tall tales. It is not mystic, and actually quite scientific. I completed the intensive Level IV Teacher Training in 2013, and started teaching and offering healing to the Reno community since 2014. I was accepted as Senior Disciple of Grandmaster Fu in 2015. My teaching, the healing I offered, and the continual training with Grandmaster Fu - all have helped me advanced in my Qigong path. I met different students, clients, and other Emei Qigong teachers, and heard many other healing stories, from minor issues to acute mushroom poisoning and terminal stage cancers. We were taught that while qigong is not replacement for modern medicine, it has amazing potential, not only on the physical side, but the emotional side which is the root of a lot of physical symptoms. The mental awareness comes after the lessening and removal of these blockages.
I hope this piques your curiosity about Emei Qigong and that you are inspired to try it. I encourage you to take advantage of the learning opportunities, attend our Free Wuji Gong Group Practice, or at least explore further on Emei Qigong to see if it is something for you.
